Lust: Maison Scotch Harem Pants with Braces

March 19, 2011

I have a weird relationship with Maison Scotch, the womenswear line of Dutch label, the House of Scotch and Soda.

One of their signature traits is combining garments with accessories, for no-fuss instant style, which every now and again I take exception to. Last season, for example, they attached Eiffel Tower pendants to white slogan t-shirts, and created shirts with long sleeved t-shirts sewn in underneath.

I find that kind of design a little too try hard, but I do appreciate that there is a market place for it.

That said, Maison Scotch also produce some beautifully designed pieces. Last season, I became dangerously close to spending £150 on a grey tweed smoking jacket with suede patches on the elbows, and £90 on a white slogan t-shirt.

This season, not only have they done it again but they’ve also convinced me to embrace their no fuss approach to style.

These gorgeous printed harem pants come with built in striped braces, attached with loops of tan leather.

The look is topped off with Maison Scotch’s signature preppy edge, with mis-matched, antique-style buttons that look like they’ve come straight out of an English boarding school textiles rooms.

And all for a cool £115.50 – I think my bank account may be taking a little hit come pay day.
